Dr. Venuti is currently heading the HPV Unit at the UOSD Tumor Immunology and Immunotherapy at the IRCCSRegina Elena National Cancer Institute in Rome, Italy. With his background in virology, he has dedicated his career to understanding and combating HPV-related cancers. He earned his medical degree summa cum laude in 1979 from the University of Rome "La Sapienza," where He also completed his specialization in Clinical Pathology in 1983 and his PhD in Microbiology, Epidemiology and Virology in 1986. His professional journey includes roles as a researcher at the University of Rome, an associated researcher at Indiana University, and various research fellowships in Italy, Scotland, and Australia. Since 2003, He has been the head of the Virology Laboratory at the Regina Elena Institute, where He has led numerous research projects funded by the Ministry of Health, CNR-ACRO, LILT, AIRC, MAECI and other institutions. His work focuses on oncogenic DNA viruses, particularly HPV and its oncogenic E5 protein, exploring their role in cell transformation and developing new therapeutic strategies against cervical cancer. In addition to his research, He has been actively involved in teaching at various institutions, including the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and the University of Naples "Federico II"; he has habilitation Full Professor Microbiology. He has also contributed to the scientific community through his membership in several scientific societies and editorial boards and as a reviewer for multiple scientific journals. His research has resulted in several patents related to subunit vaccines and therapeutic strategies against HPV and more than 150 publications on peer reviewed Journals with H index of 37 (Scopus).
